So let me start off by saying, I am totally new to Green Arrow. Being a Marvel fan, I rarely picked up any DC books except for Batman. As I was roaming the shelves at my comic book store I was stopped by an image very familiar to one of the classics, Robin Hood. Except it wasn’t a Robin Hood title. It happened to be the title in which you are about to read,Green Arrow. I immediately was floored by the awesome cover art by Mauro Cascioli. The image of Green Arrow overlooking a city flooded by a mysterious forest which grew overnight during the attack on Star City is a show of strength and charisma to what this issue will deliver to the reader.
Being a first issue in a new series, one would think that you would get an introduction to the main character, especially for a new reader like myself. J.T. Krul does just that in an amazing way. Right off the bat, I felt as if I was reading a movie script to an actual Green Arrow film. J.T. and Diogenes first show us Green Arrow a.k.a. Oliver Queen’s powers; Master archer and highly trained martial artist. Next they give us a quick background on why Oliver is where he is at and his plans. This part of the issue helped me plainly understand some sort of history of Green Arrow. The story then goes on to show a possible villain and a masked murderer. We also get a quick cameo from one of the most talked about superheroes, GREEN LANTERN.
All in all, I was very pleased to have read this issue and I will definitely give this series a couple more issues to see if I will firmly add this title to my pull list at my comic book store. Don’t get me wrong, it has action, suspense, a bit of drama and a couple hot chicks….I’m just not 100% sure of the whole Robin Hood/Green Arrow combo; even though Robin Hood is one of my favorite bed time stories!
Worth a read during your visit at the comic book store.

That’s how Ollie always dressed as the Green Arrow. Robin Hood was his inspiration. I recommend the Quiver story arc by Kevin “Silent Bob” Smith. It will give you a better background of the character.
